I just took a walk around my favorite areas from last time.

Note the Acropolis mount in the background.

My favorite part of Athens is all the sunken 11th century Byzantine churches scattered about.

I made some friends in the ruins.

is Athens as cat-crazy as Rome is?

Not quite, but there are lots more stray dogs. Probably because the massive pedestrian center limits the numbers that cars take out...

Great pictures! It always strikes me that in the parts of North America I've called home, the buildings that I think of as "pretty old" are mostly things that were build in the 1920s or 30s. Nothing like perspective, huh.

Also - black shiny kitties are supposed to be fat, not all sleek like this. Is everything in Greece just built for speed?

I dunno, Fergus had some character :) It's always a bit of a shock to wander into things like this, seemingly at random, as an American. My first time in London I kept saying "things are so beautifully old!" and they told me to go to Rome to see old. Then I see things here that put Rome to shame; I hope that in my lifetime Bagdad becomes tourable.

I miss Goblin! These guys (it's hard to see the second one) weren't nearly as approachable, but neither did they whine at me to open a door.

Beautiful pictures, I can only hope to visit for myself some day. A friend of mine is studying abroad in Italy right now. She keeps posting pictures of all the things we learned about in high school haha! She also had a picture of a sunken church.
Thank you for sharing!
