Truly has mentioned that my incidental knowledge is unique and, as I'm packing, I see her point.

Dental floss and disposable razors are expensive in Europe so pack plenty. Non-drowsy cold medicine is often by prescription only, so bring DayQuil. And I'm suffering mild panic attacks because that's what I do in the 24 hours prior to boarding; as soon as I'm seated for the trans-Atlantic leg I'll be fine.

That bit, in particular, was hard-earned, along with knowing that on day 14 I'll be hit by a wave of despair that will be horrific and yet over within a few hours. The first few times were an unpleasant surprise, but now I can at least recognize situational quirks rather than succumb. Still, I'm practically twitching with contingency planning even as my excitement starts to rev.

It's easy to overlook the things you know, because you just *know* them, it's not like they're piled up in stacks of books that you can count.

I'm glad you know yourself enough now to smooth out the bumps. At least the recurring ones!
