Brainstorming Life
Jan. 23rd, 2013 11:26 am"To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong."

The key to creativity is brainstorming, coming up with the intellectual raw materials to be refined into art, writing, and life. The trick to brainstorming is to write ideas indiscriminately, ignoring their quality or potential. Judgements come later, as part of editing, but brainstorming is free and uninhibited.
It's a lot harder than it sounds, our natural inclination is to critique ourselves. Doing so at this point in the process, however, will only inhibit the flow of ideas and an incomplete list of ideas will only hurt when the time comes to choose among them.
So put "astronaut" on your reinvention list, because shutting it down early might prevent "buy telescope", "lift weights", and "get a Ph.D in astrophysics", any of which could be worthy and achievable.
