For everyone who has been asking for pictures, I just uploaded a number of
them to myspace - http://www.myspace.com/vinceconaway!
I really like my new hostel - they feed you breakfast and dinner, in a
really fun communal atmostphere. As a nice balance, though, I'm in an
extension of the hostel that is basically a private appartment nearby;
still five beds to a room, but with much less of an
in-the-middle-of-20-lives feel to it. I have met more people in two days
here than I have in a week anywhere else (communal dining helps with
that). I went out Saturday night (impressing myself, and my new friends,
with my knowledge of a cheap-but-not-too-touristy bar that I've been taken
to in the past) and was up until all hours. Then last night I had a
lovely walking conversation with three Argentine girls, two of whom spoke
Italian (which was wonderful practice) and I could mostly make out the
Spanish of the third.
I'm finally feeling better, the last few days have been kind of rough.
The pollution has been so bad you can taste the air, and not in a pleasant
way. I got some allergy medication, which seems to have helped, and I
spent some time at a few of the highest locations (with free access) in
the city to get above the smog. Something helped because I'm much better
today than I have been for awhile.
I hope this finds everybody doing well and enjoying the weather (low 60's
here, though it's been a drippy week)!
