I won a high school guessing game in a flash of brilliance that convinced me I was psychic and I knew I could do anything.

I shook my principal’s hand at graduation after getting an award I’d coveted for four years and I knew I could do anything.

I stepped onstage and looked out into an audience where I’d seated myself for years and I knew I could do anything.

I blearily left the IBM campus after a double shift of setting up a last-minute network and I knew I could do anything.

I lay down on the table the day after the show closed as we got celebratory tattoos and piercings and I knew I could do anything.

I looked out over Florence after discovering I could support my travels through music and I knew I could do anything.

There are times when I doubt, and in these times I am extremely thankful to have counter-examples to look back on.
