More performing news
Jan. 18th, 2009 10:54 amIt has been a very good week. I had a bit of a disappointing day busking on Tuesday, but that was countered by quite good ones on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, I had a really good performance at C&P Coffee in Seattle Friday night, which was a lot of fun! I'm glad to have booked two more coffee houses during my stay here, and I'm excited about the upcoming shows.
One of the neatest moments of my week was busking on the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island, when a woman came to me and asked if I'd play a tune for a group of Montessori school students. They were in their own section and couldn't come watch, but I really enjoyed playing for them! I was only able to play briefly, however, because of Ferry regulations about unattended belongings (while I was within sight of my full setup, I was still far enough away be nervous, especially since similar offenses have resulted in other buskers being forbidden to busk). A good audience of rapt children is always a pleasure :)
My plans for the upcoming week are starting to firm up. I'm going to head downtown on Tuesday in order to attend The Strangers's inaugural party (hosted by Dan Savage!) and busk Wednesday-Friday, follewed by my booking at Trabant Coffee on Friday night. I'm really enjoying the comparatively warm weather out here, and today it's even sunny! Since Seattle is famously gray I've set my computer's background to rotate among a set of my favorite pictures from my travels, which always make me smile, but on a day like today I hardly need them.
