Well that sucked.
I just spent a very unpleasant two days sick as a dog. I had a stomach
bug at first, which then migrated into a killer headache. I'm just now
starting to feel better, but only with the help of some friendly drugs.
What will really floor anyone who knows what a pharmaphobe I am is that
I'm actually taking two medications right now. Interestingly, it seems
that advertising works - I was comforted by the fact that the headache
medicine I was given (there are no truly OTC drugs here, you always have
to talk to a pharmacist) was familiar from TV commercials.
Ferrara is beautiful, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. What is
interesting is how many bicyclists are around. It's one of the flattest
Italian cities I've seen, so it makes sense, but it makes things feel
positively Dutch!
I still have no idea about busking legalities. I've been keeping a low
profile (not being able to get out of bed will do that) so it could be
that I just haven't been caught, but several cops have at least driven by
without saying anything. I'm still leery, though, because there were two
buskers here on Monday who, when I talked to them, said it was their first
day in town, and I haven't seen either since. So, as usual, who knows?
So that's my exciting jet-set lifestyle. I'm a little nervous; I've been
sick four times in three months, and it's unlike me to be sick twice in a
year. Maybe next time I need to stock up on my echinacea before heading
off...
